Scope
Alarm System Contractor I. An alarm system contractor I shall be a person whose business includes the execution of contracts requiring the experience and skill to lay out, fabricate, install, maintain, alter, repair, monitor, inspect, replace, or service any electrical device, signaling device, or combination of electrical devices used to signal or detect a burglary, fire, robbery, or medical emergency operating at less than 98 volts. An alarm system contractor I means an alarm contractor whose business includes all types of alarm systems for all purposes. The applicant shall have no less than seven (7) years of practical alarm systems experience, including a minimum of three (3) years practical electrical experience as a certified fire alarm system journeyman. The board may, in its sole discretion, consider a person's formal or vocational education as practical experience in the trade. An alarm system contractor I shall be registered with the state of Florida as an EH or EY contractor.
Examination Content Outline
The Alarm System Contractor examination is based on trade-specific information pertaining to materials, tools, equipment, practices, terminology, and relevant laws. The examination is a two (2) hour, open book exam that consists of 50 questions.
