Scope
Alarm System Contractor II. An alarm system contractor II shall be a person whose business includes the execution of contracts requiring the experience and skill to lay out, fabricate, install, maintain, alter, repair, monitor, inspect, replace, or service any electrical device, signaling device, or combination of electrical devices used to signal or detect a burglary, robbery, or medical emergency operating at less than 98 volts. An alarm system contractor II means an alarm contractor whose business includes all types of alarm systems, other than fire, for all purposes except as provided herein. The applicant shall have no less than seven (7) years of practical alarm systems experience, including a minimum of three (3) years practical electrical experience as a certified limited energy systems (f/k/a low voltage) specialty journeyman. The board may, in its sole discretion, consider a person's formal or vocational education as practical experience in the trade. An alarm system contractor II shall be registered with the state of Florida as an EI or EZ contractor.
Examination Content Outline
The Alarm System Contractor II examination is based on trade-specific information pertaining to materials, tools, equipment, practices, terminology, and relevant laws. The examination is a two (2) hour, open book exam that consists of 50 questions.
