Scope
Class "B": The scope of work of a Class "B" general building contractor shall include and be limited to the construction of commercial buildings and single- and multiple-residential dwellings, and accessory use structures in connection therewith, all of which shall not exceed three (3) stories in height. A Class "B" general building contractor may remodel, repair, improve, or alter any building or structure, providing such work does not affect the structural members of buildings and structures which are over three (3) stories in height. A Class "B" general building contractor shall not do any electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or liquefied petroleum gas work. In order to be eligible to be certified as a Class "B" general building contractor by the board, the applicant shall have at least four (4) years of practical building construction trade experience.
Examination Content Outline
The Class "B" General Building Contractor (or Building Contractor) examination is based on trade-specific information pertaining to materials, tools, equipment, practices, terminology, and relevant laws. The examination is a three (3) hour, open book exam that consists of 80 questions.
