GITS Low Voltage Contractor Course

Scope

Low Voltage Contractors are those who are qualified to install, maintain, repair, alter wire or extend burglar alarm systems and communications and sound systems in single family homes, duplexes, mobile homes, multifamily dwellings, and commercial buildings at less than 98 volts. The scope of work may also include NFPA 70 or FBC compliant, installations of raceways, computer wiring, conduit for intercom, public address systems, and or landscaping lighting to include Plug & Play devices. Any electrical installation above 98 volts may be included in the contract for work but must be subcontracted to a Certified Electrical Contractor.

Examination Content Outline

The Communication and Sound Systems Contractor examination is based on trade-specific information pertaining to materials, tools, equipment, practices, terminology, and relevant laws. The examination is a two (2) hour, open book exam that consists of 50 questions.
